About the photographer
Jack Underwood is a photographer based between Surrey and Gloucestershire whose work is shaped by a passion for cinema, documentary storytelling and the authentic moments that connect people.
With a background in Film Studies, his approach is influenced by cinematography and visual narrative, creating photographs that feel immersive, atmospheric and honest. Rather than directing every frame, Jack is drawn to observing genuine interactions, allowing emotion, light and environment to shape each image naturally.
His work spans weddings, editorial commissions, brand storytelling and film productions, united by a documentary approach that prioritises authenticity over perfection. Whether photographing a couple on their wedding day, a creative project on set or the people behind a local business, the focus remains the same: capturing moments that feel real and images that tell a story.
Inspired by photographers such as Greg Williams and the language of film, Jack aims to create photographs that feel less like traditional portraits and more like scenes from a larger narrative, inviting the viewer to imagine what happened before the frame and what comes next.
When he's not behind the camera, you'll usually find him at the cinema, travelling, or searching for the next story worth telling.
